Your name and what is your medium and website?

Lois Franchino

No website, I have a Facebook page under Balalalu Pottery

Is your studio at home or outside, and if at home, is it a dedicated room or are you having to share it with other family members?

My studio is at home, in my basement. I don’t have to share with anyone else.

Are you finding it difficult to work now? Or has this become a time of great creativity?

Initially I was not motivated to do anything. I think mostly due to the craft fairs all being cancelled, and since I had previously made a lot of pottery items for the scheduled shows, I felt that it would just be piling up in my studio and become overwhelming.

What is it you are working on now? Does it relate in any way to current events, or are you letting this be a time of releasing all that while the ideas flow?

I have recently started throwing again and I am primarily painting with underglazes on the pieces rather than just glazing them. I have posted photos on my Facebook page of these works in progress…

Do you think this experience will permanently alter the way you create, or do you think you will go back to your way of creating art before, and if it will change you, in what way and why?

The only change I have noticed to date is that I am thinking each piece out before I create it. I am hoping this will stay with me going forward..
